I met some nice people yesterday who are over from Texas, holidaying in Donegal. They are having a great time by all accounts and totally blown away by the beautiful scenery. Nice autumn weather as well. However, they were a little surprised to hear that I am a Clinical Hypnotherapist with a clinic within walking distance of the magnificent Rossnowlagh beach.
“Who the hell would need hypnotherapy in Donegal… its one of the most peaceful, easygoing places on the planet?” My American friends were totally bemused and somewhat surprised that even in this idyllic corner of Ireland we contend with significant stress and emotional strain.
It certainly led to an interesting discussion, but when I arrived home later, I just couldn’t get the question out of my head, …why is there such a pressing need for hypnotherapy in Donegal? And so bit by bit I began to think through the type of issues that I deal with on a daily basis and why in such a laid back, peaceful corner which offers the prospect of a great quality of life, there is so much unhappiness and emotional pain.
Some time around midnight the penny dropped, it suddenly occurred to me that Donegal was the problem, or at least a significant and growing part of the problem. We are blessed to live in this part of the world, and it really does offer the prospect of a great quality of life. However, it is only the prospect….the possibility; Donegal fails in that it cannot provide the jobs, the businesses and the economic stability to allow people to enjoy everything else it has to offer.
The mass emigration of recent years has emptied the county of the young and middle aged. What is left is pain. So there is the answer to the question, why do we need hypnotherapy in Donegal? its because there is a mass neurosis, a lingering pain that has to be endured rather than cured. People are either struggling to get by in a county with the highest levels of unemployment in the country or else are pining and lonely for a loved one far away.
Sadly Donegal people are as stressed and challenged as people in any other part of this country. So do we need hypnotherapy in Donegal…… We sure as hell do!
If you are anxious, lonely or depressed consider contacting Sean to find out how hypnotherapy can help you to cope with your burden, whatever that may be. Perhaps with a little help you can begin to feel better and shift your focus and attention from the pain and discomfort you feel inside and contemplate the beauty and quality of life in Donegal.
Best wishes to you all
